Welcome to the World Trade Center Palm Beach Cross Border Business Development Webinar. I'm honored to be the County Mayor for Palm Beach County.
Palm Beach County is experiencing an historic economic recovery. As of the end of 2021, the county's unemployment rate was reported at 3.3% below the national and state averages. Palm Beach County was recently identified as the number one county in the state for growth. This past year, over 31 companies have relocated or expanded in our county, creating over 3000 high salary jobs and 150,000,000 in capital investment.
Palm Beach County is incredibly diverse, from being a well known and highly desirable tourist and year round vacation destination to being a nationally recognized area for finance, technology, and medical sciences, we have a strong track record for attracting businesses and ensuring the success of a diverse and robust economy, bolstered in part by low state taxes and a business friendly regulation and ease of international access, with three international airports within 50 miles of our county seat.
The county has come through the pandemic stronger than it was just two years ago, contributing to an explosive growth of corporate and workforce locations. West Palm Beach has been dubbed Wall Street South, and technology has advanced considerably since Boca Raton served as the birthplace for the modern day computers. Under the leadership of my friend Al Zucaro, the World Trade Center Palm Beach has been focused on advancing Palm Beach County as the portal for investment from the Kingdom of Bahrain. The synergy between our countries is remarkable.
Today's event promises to build the lasting commercial bond between our countries. A stellar group of business and government leaders is ready to provide a deep dive into this evolving relationship.
