Indian River County, Florida – Strategically Located Yet Far From Urban Sprawl

Indian River County, on Florida's central east coast, covers 543 square miles of beaches, citrus groves, thriving commercial and growing industry. It is within three hours of 90% of Florida’s population of 21 million residents, with easy access to national and international markets yet far from urban sprawl, traffic and congestion.

Historically, Indian River County is known for its citrus industry - agriculture and tourism are still vital industries to the local economy. With 26 miles of pristine beaches and a host of cultural amenities, the area is a national and international tourism destination, offering countless opportunities for recreation and enjoying the outdoors year-round. Many CEOs and other corporate executives have located their businesses to the county as a result of their positive vacation experience and/or owning second/third homes in the area.

Indian River County is also known for its low crime rate, which attracts many retirees and young families relocating from larger markets. The county’s population is 157,355, with Vero Beach and Sebastian its largest municipalities. Local companies draw from a regional workforce, within an hour’s drive time, of about 638,000 workers.

  • Piper Aircraft - Manufacturer of small personal aircraft and with 980 employees, the county’s largest private employer. The company has called Vero Beach home since 1957.

  • CVS distribution center - A 400,000sf distribution hub for all retail stores south of Orlando, with 336 employees. The Vero Beach Industrial Park, just west of I-95, was chosen as the location for ease of distribution.

  • Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital – Cleveland Clinic took over operations of the county’s largest hospital in early 2019, and now has over 2,000 employees.

Culture and cultural experiences abound in Indian River County. Art galleries and studios flourish, both beachside and on the mainland. Plus:

  • The Vero Beach Museum of Art curates regional, national, and international exhibitions, and operates the largest museum art school in Florida.

  • Riverside Theatre offers a full season of professional entertainment, including Broadway plays, musical groups, and nationally known artists.

  • The Atlantic Classical Orchestra, a 33-piece orchestra, features internationally known soloists.

  • The McLarty Treasure Museum, located in the Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area, exhibits treasures and artifacts from a 1715 Spanish shipwreck and offers information on the A's Indians, the region's earliest inhabitants.

  • The Environmental Learning Center is a hands-on natural habitat exhibit on 53 acres of wetlands and mangrove forests with indoor and outdoor classrooms and labs.

  • McKee Botanical Gardens, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is an 18-acre subtropical hammock located in the heart of Vero Beach that supports a dense and diverse botanical collection, offering glimpses of exotic trees and plants as well as several restored architectural treasures.
